FX-DECON

FX-DECON is the algorithm, dedicated for signal extraction and non-coherent noise elimination. It is applied to the seismic data converted from spatial-time domain (t-x) to the spatial-frequency domain (f-x).

Usually procedure is used just for image view improvement, but in some cases it can be also effective for more important task solving - extraction of new information from signal after noise attenuation.

The main problem common for all spatial filtering algorithms is wave field smoothing. A lot of features, related to the loss of coherency, can bring us significant geological information. It can be lost during processing after some kind of averaging procedures.

We introduce you the modified FX-DECON algorithm, which didn't affect the local events on a wave field. The concept of this algorithm is based on two-steps procedure: 1 - creation of filter for so-called etalon wave field, 2 - application of computed filter to the real data. Etalon wave field must contains of all useful seismic events with equalized amplitudes.

Modified FX-DECON has some powerful advantages in comparison with another methods, such as fan-filtering or velocity filtering even if these methods take into account the local coherency of wave field. At the same time we don't consider FX-DECON to be a self-contained alternative to the other methods, we just suggest to use it additionally.
