The task: in order to compare Western and Russian technologies in the production cycle through the execution of a working project, Gazprom Neft was tasked to re-process seismic data that have already been processed using another foreign software, with the building of VDM and solving the upper part heterogeneity problems in conditions of Western Siberia for a land area of 300 km2 using the system of interpretative seismic data processing Prime by “Seismotech, Ltd.” company and high-capacity computing resources of “Seismotech, Ltd.” with the technological and methodological support of "Gazprom neft” NTC specialists.
The solution: the seismic data processing was carried out jointly by the specialists of Seismotech, Ltd. and "Gazprom neft" NTC with the usage of the Prime software platform for the full processing graph, with testing of parameters and quantitative quality control of the results obtained after each significant procedure.
Special attention was paid to the account of the distorting effect of inhomogeneities of the upper part of the section in the areas of development of permafrost on kinematic and dynamic characteristics of a seismic records. The Prime software provided a wide range of frequencies while maintaining the true amplitude ratio, as well as maintaining a high signal/noise ratio, which allowed to identify the dynamic and kinematic features of seismic recording, which allowed to obtain a seismic cube with a single static solution suitable for structural and dynamic interpretation. As a result of the performed deep migration, tectonic disturbances, zones of wedging and lithological substitution of rocks were distinguished on the seismic cube obtained as a result of processing with high accuracy.
The joint execution of seismic data processing at the current working project of “Gazprom neft” NTC, which was made in order to demonstrate the capabilities and testing of Prime software and technologies, showed the excellent results of the usage of Prime technologies in direct comparison of the processing results performed in the Western software analogue earlier.
“Gazprom Neft” announced the result of the executed works in its press release dated May 30, 2018:
“Processing seismic data through the Prime system developed by Seismotech, Ltd. showed a significant increase in the volume of useful geological information obtained.
This data had, initially, been processed using foreign software, which meant it was possible to undertake a detailed step-by-step comparison against the data previously obtained. Using Russian digital solutions showed significant qualitative improvements, particularly in making it possible to obtain a higher level of detail in imaging, some 20 to 30 percent better than the initial outcome. This revised interpretation of the data made possible fine-tuning of the seismo-geological field model and reserves estimates, as well as identifying the optimum system for field development”.
Practical works with the selected software, Prime software package, developed by Seismotech, Ltd., Prime, according to the Gazprom Neft Scientific and Technical Center, “have demonstrated the viability of using only Russian software in the processing and the subsequent interpretation of seismic data”.
