Analysis of parameters and сorrection of frequency-dependent absorption effects in seismic data processing.

Analysis of frequency-dependent absorption effects, parameterization of these effects during processing, study of wave attenuation parameters and their interpretation have long been recognized as the most important problems of seismic exploration. A great number of articles and monographs have been devoted to these questions. However, many theoretical and applied issues remain unresolved.
The consideration of frequency-dependent absorption can be split into two stages: analysis of absorption parameters and distortion correction issues, elimination of distortions caused by absorption from seismic data.
The report briefly introduces the problem statement, discusses different types of Quality factor (Q) parameter representation, and presents algorithms for analyzing the Q-efficient (Qeff) parameter, Q-tomography, and corresponding seismic data correction.
